Course Overview
The NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing is an Ofqual-regulated qualification that forms the first year of a Computing/IT degree pathway and is equivalent to the first year of an IT degree in the UK system.
Students develop academic, vocational and technical computing skills and prepare for the Level 5 Diploma in Computing, university transfer or IT-sector employment.
Qualification Structure / Units
- Core units – Algorithms and Mathematical Concepts for Computing, Computer Networks, Computer Systems, Databases, and Front End Web Development.
- Mandatory specialist units – Object Oriented System Analysis and Design, Software Engineering, and Designing and Developing Object-Oriented Computer Programmes.
Entry Requirements
- NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies or Level 3 Diploma in Computing.
- A comparable local/international qualification, one A Level or equivalent, an appropriate school leaver certificate, or mature-entry evidence with relevant experience and English/Maths.
- For non-native English speakers: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, GCSE/iGCSE O Level English C/4 or equivalent, or the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test.
Assessment
Units are assessed by assignments and/or examinations across assessment cycles offered during the year.
Academic Progression
Students can progress to the NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing, enter the second year of many UK university degree courses, or pursue IT careers.
Accreditation Status
